Consequences of erythropoietin production by neoplasms.
نویسنده
چکیده
Neoplastic lesions of the kidney and certain other organs are sometimes associated with increased erythropoietin and/or erythrocytosis in man and experimental animals. It seems likely that measurement of erythropoietin, although not specific, could be helpful in detecting renal neoplasms and in following the progress of treated tumors of the kidney and certain other organs. Increasing the sensitivity of the assay of erythropoietin in the exhypoxic mouse, a functional assay, or in an immunologic assay of specific protein concentration might aid in the early detection of yet another hormone marker of neoplasia.

Production of Erythropoietin-specific polyclonal Antibodies
Background: Erythropoietin, as a principal hormone promotes red blood cell production in bone marrow. Varieties of erythropoietin biosimilar are being produced by recombinant DNA technology in cell cultures. The detection or quantification of these molecules are being performed by diff erent methods which some of theme such as Western blot and enzymelinked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) require sp...
متن کاملOptimization of Dynamic Binding Capacity of Anion Exchange Chromatography Media for Recombinant Erythropoietin Purification
Background:The dynamic binding capacity (DBC) of a chromatography matrix in protein purification is the amount of the total protein absorbed into the matrix, before occurrence of a significant break in the breakthrough curve. Optimization of the process criteria for maximum DBC avoids extra process scale-up and reduces ...
متن کاملAnemia and Erythropoiesis in Cancer
Approximately one third to one half of patients with cancer are anemic, a condition that diminishes the ability to engage in daily activities and undermines the overall quality of life. Although cancer-related anemia has many causes, one of the most important is inadequate production and impaired utilization of erythropoietin. At any given level of anemia, patients with cancer produce much less...
متن کاملPurification of human anti-erythropoietin polyclonal antibodies by precipitation and chromatography as an optimized method with potential application in vaccine studies
Introduction: Polyclonal antibodies are required to be affinity purified. Improved purification methods of polyclonal antibody provide an opportunity to pick the most purified immunoglobulins as a primary or secondary antibody in immunoassays that are included in many vaccine studies. Two common techniques for purifying proteins is salt precipitation and chromatography purification. Our work fo...
متن کاملErythropoietin production in renal tumors.
A review of the pertinent literature on the relation of erythropoietin production to the presence of renal neoplasm suggests that erythropoietin may be produced either directly by the tumor or indirectly by its physical effect on the adjoining normal renal tissue. The most commonly found tumors which are associated with elevated levels of serum and urinary erythropoietin are the hypernephromas....
